Sportradar Meets NBA
Sportradar is now the official NBA data worldwide provider. The sports technology company has expanded distribution rights for player tracking data and distribution rights for live streaming options for all three leagues.
The NBA aims to create immersive experiences for NBA betting fans to benefit from. The aim is to increase fan engagement across all leagues using Sportradar technology.
“We are delighted that the NBA has chosen Sportradar as the Official Partner who can support the global popularity and explosive growth of the game,” said Carsten Koerl, global CEO, Sportradar. “Basketball is the largest U.S. sport in the world by popularity and, as a market leader, we are best positioned with the technological expertise and industry relationships to help the NBA entertain fans globally.”
The NBA data rights were initially shared between Sportradar and Genius Sports, big rivals in the sports technology space.
Just last October the NBA extended its partnership with both Genius and Sportradar. Sportradar gaining exclusivity now shows they outbid Genius for the rights.
The NBA and Sportradar have been working together since 2016 so it was not a difficult decision for the league to sign this deal. Sportradar has been an official provider of NBA league data for years.
“Sportradar has been a terrific partner as the league has navigated its exploration into the global sports betting landscape,” said Scott Kaufman-Ross, Senior Vice President, Head of Gaming & New Business Ventures, NBA. “As the market matures, we are thrilled to extend our partnership with Sportradar to utilize data and insights to create new fan experiences and innovate around the NBA globally.”
This is the fifth major league that Sportradar has partnered with in the sports betting arena in 2021. Sportradar has signed deals with the European Football Associations, International Tennis Federation, International Cricket Council, the National Hockey League, and now the NBA. Sportradar continues to be a global leader in sports betting data.
