New Hampshire Sports Betting Sets New Record In January

• Over $59.7 million was wagered on sports in New Hampshire in January, setting the new single-month record.

CONCORD, N.H. – New Hampshire sports betting managed to yet again break the single-month wagering record month-over-month as January saw an all-time high in activity.

The new numbers come from a 13.2% increase in mobile betting as well as a 30% increase in retail sportsbooks.

Although the sports betting handle was record-breaking, sportsbooks saw a slight dip in sports betting revenue in January.

Sports Betting Sees Major Boom

New Hampshire’s December numbers were impressive, setting the record with $51.6 million wagered and $4.53 collected by the sportsbooks in revenue. According to the report released by the New Hampshire Lottery Commission, the record has now been set again with $59,795,433 in total betting handle in January.

The bulk of the sports betting activity yet again came from mobile and online sportsbooks, with $49,439,331. Retail sportsbooks were responsible for $10,356,102 wagered in January.

Sports betting fans in the Granite State were likely placing heavy wagers on the Super Bowl and NFL playoffs, as this Super Bowl was the most wagered on in history.

In terms of tax revenue, the state collected $1,886,506. This brings the state’s total revenue collected since launch to $10,550,302, showing that New Hampshire sports betting has so far been a major success.

The numbers are expected to increase in the coming months. February will see the full brunt of Super Bowl betting, and then March will see March Madness betting as a big draw.

The NBA playoffs will roll in in April, and then the now 2021 Olympics will begin in July, following the NBA Finals.

New Hampshire should continue to reap the benefits of its thriving legal sports betting market for some time. The state may also expand its market, launching more sportsbooks for residents and tourists to use depending on how the state legislature votes on a current bill.
