NEW YORK – New York is on pace for a second-consecutive month with an online sports betting handle over $2 billion. Mobile sports wagering numbers in New York continue to rise with football, basketball, and hockey in full effect.
New York’s legal sports betting numbers from the week ending Nov. 26 moved the Empire State to a $1.978 billion handle in November. New Yorkers bet $515.59 million throughout Thanksgiving week.
This translated to $21.5 million in gross gaming revenue for the state. The legal New York sports betting revenue since April surpassed $1 billion after last week’s handle.
High weekly handles also make it likely that New York breaks the $12 billion online sports betting handle mark next week for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The Empire State has a total mobile sports wagering handle of $11.988 billion since April.
DraftKings and FanDuel Continue Competition For Top Spot
DraftKings and FanDuel are the clear top two legal online sportsbooks for New York residents. After posting a handle more than $100 million lower than FanDuel in the week ending Nov. 19, DraftKings shortened the gap to roughly $27 million last week.
According to the New York State Gaming Commission’s weekly online sports wagering report, DraftKings received $186.94 million in mobile sports betting handle for Thanksgiving week. DraftKings earned $7.94 million in gross gaming revenue, their lowest revenue total since Sept. 3.
FanDuel had the highest sports betting handle in New York for an eight-straight week with $214.76 million. This translated to $11.57 million in gross gaming revenue for the state’s top operator.
