ZAGREB, Croatia – The tennis world has stumbled into some bad news as the top-ranked player Novak Djokovic has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Djokovic reportedly organized a tennis series in Croatia and Serbia, resulting in new cases in both countries. Djokovic still has the shortest odds to win the US Open in August despite testing positive, with sports bettors expecting him to make a full recovery in time.

COVID-19 And The US Open

Despite having the coronavirus, tennis bettors are still leaning towards the number one tennis player to win the US Open.

Ironically, Djokovic was one of the main voices opposed to continuing the US Open due to risk of COVID-19 outbreak in the states.

Djokovic is now the fourth player to test positive for the virus.

I am extremely sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine.”

With this event, the growing scrutiny towards if there will be any more tennis events, including the US Open until the coronavirus is completely out of the picture.
