CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Liz Cheney is seeing heavy action at online sportsbooks from political betting fans due to her feud with the Republican Party.
Cheney currently sits as a US House Representative in Wyoming and odds show that bettors are leaning against her being reelected to her post.
Cheney has gone on a public campaign, criticizing the current state of the Republican Party. The fallout from the feud has political betting fans placing heavy action.
Liz Cheney re-elected in Wyoming?
- No -300
- Yes +200
Cheney has publicly spoken out against the GOP and specifically the negative effects former President Donald Trump has had on the party. As a result of this, Cheney was voted out of her leadership in the House Representatives.
Cheney didn’t stop as a result, however, as the Wyoming Rep. has continued her public campaign. Cheney has condemned party members for not calling out Trump for his lies about the 2020 election and views the former presidents as damaging to the GOP.
“We cannot let the former president drag us backward and make us complicit in his efforts to unravel our democracy,” said Cheney. “Down that path lies our destruction, and potentially the destruction of our country. If you want leaders who will enable and spread his destructive lies, I’m not your person, you have plenty of others to choose from. That will be their legacy.”
Donald Trump has been a polarizing figure in the Republican Party since his initial 2016 run for President. His influence in the Republican party has grown to levels not seen by other Presidents and it clearly shows in how his opponents within his own party are viewed.
For example, US Senator Mitt Romney has opposed Donald Trump throughout his Presidency. This has turned many Republicans against him.
Romney once won the Republican nomination to become President, losing to President Barack Obama in 2012. Now, the once-beloved Senator gets booed by his own party due to his public opposition to Donald Trump.
Liz Cheney also received boos from Republicans during her many public addresses against the former President. This is a strong indication as to why betting fans do not see her winning another election as a Republican candidate.
The GOP has already begun naming potential replacements as well. Anthony Bouchard has come up as an opponent of Cheney who may take her seat.
While nothing has been official as of yet, the fact that Republicans are already looking for her replacement is a good enough indication that Cheney’s time may be up in Wyoming.
