FRANFORT, Ky. – Kentucky online sports betting launches on Thursday, just six months after Governor Andy Beshear signed the state’s sports betting bill. Beshear and Team Kentucky made incredible progress in preparation for a full legal sports betting in the Bluegrass State.
In the six months since Beshear signed House Bill 551 into law, Team Kentucky expedited their launch progress with emergency regulations and administration.
- Created Sports Betting Advisory Council
- Began administering the Kentucky Problem Gambling Assistance account
- Released sports betting FAQs to educate future bettors
- Approved licenses of eight sports betting operators
- Approved and updated their sports betting catalog prior to online launch
- Launched retail sports betting
To cap it all off, Kentucky sports betting is coming to mobile devices on Thursday thanks to Beshear and Tema Kentucky’s hard work. Residents can register from their choices of Barstool Sportsbook, Bet365, BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, Fanatics, or FanDuel.
But, plenty of patient Kentucky sports betting fans may have already pre-registered for their online sportsbook when retail betting launched in the state on September 7.
What Sports Can I Bet On In Kentucky?
Kentucky’s sports betting catalog has all the prominent American sports like NFL, NBA, MLB, in addition to collegiate sports like college basketball or football. With no professional sports teams in Kentucky, Governor Beshear made it a focal point to allow fans to bet on the Kentucky Wildcats or Louisville Cardinals.
There are also more exotic sports leagues available for betting in Kentucky, such as the LIV TOUR, XFL, Canadian Football League (CFL), the Olympics, and even the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Kentucky made five additions to the sports betting catalog in a recent meeting.
New Additions to Sports Betting Catalog
- Bellator MMA
- Formula One Racing
- National Rugby League of Australia and New Zealand
- Professional Fighters League
- UTR Pro Tour Tennis
The Kentucky Sports Betting Advisory Council approved all five sports leagues for legal online sportsbooks before Thursday’s launch.
Kentucky players can get their bets in right before work with an early 6 a.m. launch for online sports betting.
