SALEM, Ore. – Oregon saw a rare increase and decrease in sports betting numbers in September. The betting handle went up, but the revenue the state took in on sports betting was less than August’s revenue numbers.
The majority of the wagers were placed on basketball. With the NBA postseason still in full swing for that month, it is understandable that it took in a lot of action.
The start of the NFL season also took in a large amount at the Oregon Scoreboard sportsbook app, showing promising numbers for October.
September Sports Betting
The overall sports betting revenue numbers for September in Oregon showed an 8.1% decrease month-on-month. This comes off of a 1.3% increase in total wagers.
The report shows that $26,174,303 were wagered on sports in Oregon in September. August numbers were just under $26 million.
The revenue Oregon received was $1,527,243 compared to the $1,662,406 from August. Despite the revenue decrease, the betting handle was a record high for Oregon.
Oregon players betting on the NBA wagered over $8 million. This was followed by the $7.1 million from NFL bettors. Baseball bets saw $4.1 million, and soccer bettors wagered $2.1 million on the sport.
