- PANDA Interactive filed copyright infringement complaints against Sportradar and Genius Sports on Tuesday.
- The sports betting technology accused Sportradar and Genius Sports of infringing on their stream-betting technology.
LAS VEGAS – SportsCastr Inc., doing business as PANDA Interactive, filed copyright infringement complaints for their technology patents. The sports technology officially filed the complaints against Sportradar and Genius Sports in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
PANDA Interactive’s legal sports betting technology allows for leagues, media, and sportsbooks to offer live betting odds while watching an event. Genius Sports Limited and Sportradar group are key providers in the technological infrastructure portion of sports betting.
Chairman Donald Schupak of PANDA Interactive said “We have made substantial investments in the development of our technology and cannot tolerate having our patented technology used unfairly by others and against us.” Schupak also said that “No one wants to see their own arsenal used against them in battle.”
The ‘arsenal’ that Schupak refers is PANDA’s video streaming products that incorporate betting into the viewing experience. An official statement by PANDA Interactive’s CEO Kevin April explains that the two companies are profiting from PANDA’s technological innovation.
“The confluence of media and sports betting is essential to the future of the fan-viewing experience,” said April. “PANDA developed its pioneering technology long before online sports betting was even legal in the US. Sportradar and Genius Sports are infringing on our patents and capitalizing on our groundbreaking work.”
What Does PANDA Interactive Offer?
PANDA Interactive works with USA Today Sports, iHeart Radio, and legal online sportsbooks such as FanDuel. The company’s Watch & Bet experiences through PANDA Studio lets viewers live bet in stream.
Their technology offers companies a strategy to increase engagement and offer betting odds without the friction of using multiple platforms. PANDA is defending their patents and innovative sports betting technology from competing technological companies.
