ERIE, Pa. – Sports betting is expanding in Pennsylvania this week, as the ninth casino operator plans to offer the ability to accept single-game wagers.
The Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Erie is scheduled to undergo a testing and soft launch of their BetAmerica-operated sportsbook starting on Wednesday. Day 1 will begin at 4 pm, while the second day of operations will begin two hours prior.
Assuming all goes as planned, the sportsbook in Presque Isle will officially launch on Friday at noon.
The casino is owned by Churchill Downs, who purchased the venue from Eldorado Resorts earlier this year. However, as Churchill Downs is paired with SBTech in other legal sports betting states, this caused a brief delay according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, who still must offer their final approval on the launch.
That delay looks to end this week, as a press release was sent out by Presque Ise Casino announcing the launch, set to make them the second sportsbook in Western Pennsylvania. Their only competition resides two hours away in Pittsburgh at the Rivers Casino.
The BetAmerica Sportsbook In Erie
With 50 betting kiosks about the casino, bettors will be able to access odds and lines from anywhere inside the venue. Over two dozen of them will be organized within the sportsbook itself.
The high-limit area, Bar 90, and the Hub Center will also feature groups of these kiosks, allowing both smokers and non-smokers to enjoy sports betting in the most happening spots on property.
The tenth and eleventh sportsbooks in Pennsylvania are expected to launch sooner than later when Mount Airy Casino Resort and the Mohegan Sun Pocono begin operations.
