- BetMGM will be airing their odds and wagers for the first time during a live broadcast of a PGA tournament beginning Thursday.
- In August, BetMGM became the official sportsbook for the PGA and has since seen golfing events rank at the top of their list for the most bet on sport through their platform.
LAS VEGAS – The PGA TOUR will be airing live betting odds for the first time in the sport’s history during the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek.
The tournament is set to take place from October 15-18 and can be viewed on the Golf Channel. The odds and betting lines being used for the occasion will be from the PGA’s official sportsbook BetMGM, through the partnership they made this past summer.
“We are excited to build upon our recently announced Official Betting Operator relationship with BetMGM by activating this partnership at THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK,” said Norb Gambuzza, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President, Media, and Gaming. “The focus of our sports betting partnerships is to engage fans in new and creative ways. As an element of that strategy, we began integrating live odds onto TOUR digital platforms in August and now we look forward to learning from this first-time test in a live telecast.”
What Golf Fans Can Expect
Viewers of the tournament can expect to see live BetMGM betting odds flash on the screen two times per hour.
Coverage of wagers will include the odds on all bets being taken. From the pro golfers going head-to-head to those that will be top finishers. Winning margins, hole-in-ones, and playoff leaderboards are also going to be up for action.
In August, BetMGM and the PGA Tour inked a partnership that will span a number of years according to the contract that was signed. The sportsbook is the official sportsbook for professional golf with this deal.
Interested PGA TOUR bettors that live in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Nevada, and West Virginia will be able to access the mobile sports betting platform to gamble on the tournament with the odds that are broadcast on television. These states already have BetMGM availability with four more slated to have the sportsbook enter their industry by the end of the year.
BetMGM And The PGA
Golf fans have taken a strong liking to the BetMGM mobile sports betting platform. Bets on all events affiliated with the PGA rank as some of the most wagered on tournaments next to all other offerings on BetMGM.
“The PGA TOUR has been a great partner for BetMGM. Being the first sports betting platform to integrate betting odds into a live PGA TOUR telecast speaks to the innovative nature of our partnership. We look forward to continuing to move the needle and work closely with the TOUR to produce great content,” said Matt Prevost, BetMGM Chief Marketing Officer.
The first broadcast of odds for sports bettors to view with the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek is expected to cause a surge in wagers, furthering the popularity of the sport with the application.
The Golf Channel will be airing the Las Vegas event on October 15-18 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. EST.
