Purdue, Gonzaga CBB Odds Show Blowouts On Thursday

• The Purdue Boilermakers are favored by 13.0 points over the Rutgers Scarlett Knights.
• The Gonzaga Bulldogs have (-110) odds to cover a large 32.0-point spread against the Merrimack Warriors.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Two of the top five teams in the country will be in action on Thursday as the Purdue Boilermakers and Gonzaga Bulldogs take the court against lesser opponents.

Purdue Boilermakers Vs. Rutgers Scarlett Knights

The Purdue Boilermakers have an 8-0 record on the season which has led to them being the No. 1 team in the AP Poll for the first time in history. They’ll defend their spot at the top against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, a game in which legal online sportsbooks don’t expect to be too closely contested.

The Boilermakers have been outscoring opponents by an average of 25.6 points per game and even in their games against Power 6 teams, they have a +12.5 average scoring margin.

The Scarlet Knights are likely one of, and possibly the worst of the Power 6 teams on the schedule to this point in the season. They have a 4-4 record and a negative scoring margin on the year.

Rutgers has lost four of their last five games and is coming off of a 35-point embarrassing loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini. There’s truthfully nothing that indicated Rutgers has the talent or ability to keep this game close and It’s possible that a 13-point spread is far too low a number.

The game will begin at 7 p.m. EST and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.

Gonzaga Bulldogs Vs. Merrimack Warriors

Those betting on college basketball should get used to seeing the Gonzaga Bulldogs as favorites of 30+ points as the WCC doesn’t offer any competition near the Bulldogs’ level. The next victim on the Zags’ schedule, the Merrimack Warriors, come from the Northeast Conference, however.

Gonzaga has had five days of rest after their loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, meaning they’ll likely be eager to get the taste of defeat out of their mouths. Merrimack, as one could imagine, isn’t going to keep things close as they’ve lost four of their last five games and are averaging just 39 points per game against Power 6 teams.

The Zags will undoubtedly be the best team the Warriors will have faced so considering their losses by 23 points to Army and 29 points to Virginia Tech, their chances to keep things within 32.5 points seem rather low.
