ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Buffalo Sabres come off of a four-game losing streak to face the bottom-ranked Anaheim Ducks Wednesday night. The two teams did not meet in 2022 but did face each other in January, where the Sabres comfortably won 6-3.

Among the standout players in their last matchup was Victor Olofsson, who netted 2 goals including the game winner. Legal betting sites have thus published odds for both teams as well as many players like Olofsson.

On the year, the Sabres are a top 10 NHL team against the puck line at 28-24. Meanwhile, the Ducks are a bottom six team at just 23-31. In these two teams’ last five matchups, the Ducks went 3-2 against the puck line and the total went over in three out of the five.

There is not much value to be had betting on the teams themselves, due to the very favorable Sabres odds that are unlikely to bring a big profit. However, it is especially worth noting that the Ducks allow the most shots on goal and the most goals in the league by a significant margin.

What this means is that most of the value to be had in the game revolves around player props that take advantage of the inordinate amount of shots and goals given up by Anaheim. In their last matchup against the Sabres Victor Olofsson scored two goals and shot four times.

Olofsson Sports Better Odds Than Teammates vs Ducks

With his most recent performance, Olofsson has now registered at least one point in three out of four career matchups vs the Ducks. This bodes very well for his player props like over 2.5 shots on goal (-130), one or more points logged (-125) and anytime goal scorer at +150 odds.

Among these, the -125 odds for one or more points appears to be the most attractive, as Olofsson has done so in three out of four career games but has only scored a goal in two of them. Aside from Olofsson, many of the other players have shot on goal lines as well, albeit at significantly more favored odds.

A couple examples of this comes from the Sabres big three, as legal sportsbooks have given Tage Thompson -135 odds to shoot on net four or more times. Similarly, Alex Tuch’s 2.5 shots on goal line is -170 to go over along with Jeff Skinner’s -160 odds to do the same.

While the odds are far from friendly, Tuch in particular makes for a great parlay inclusion, as he has taken three or more shots in five out of his last six games and also managed a solid four shots against Anaheim in January. This means that despite his -170 odds, his consistency over the season will prove to be a valuable asset as a statistically likely leg in a bigger parlay.
