PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The list of states with sports betting legalization activity is steadily growing across the country. Rhode Island is one that has already legalized sports gambling and they are about to introduce something else -gambling kiosks. Set to be released for residents in time for the March Madness Tournament, two casinos will be offering self-betting kiosks for residents.
The Casinos
The Twin River Tiverton Casino will be adding five kiosks for residents to use for sports gambling. The Twin River Casino in Lincoln will offer 17 kiosks for residents to use. The kiosks were added in an attempt to reduce the lines at the sportsbooks ticket windows.
Sportsbook Revenue For Rhode Island
According to the Rhode Island Lottery, gamblers placed $32.8 million in bets in February and $31.6 million was paid on winning wagers. This gave the state $1.2 million in revenue from sports gambling.
The state is projected to earn around $11.5 million in sports gambling tax revenue as well this year. The addition of the kiosks will only serve the state well, with other legal gambling options possible later down the road.
One thing can be sure though, Rhoda Island residents will the option of betting at the window at in-state sportsbook of their choice, betting through a kiosk in the closest sportsbook to their area. The future for sports gambling growth is bright in Rhode Island.
