Albany, N.Y. – Sports fans in the state’s capital city and surrounding area can soon find themselves in a position to cash-in on their favorite football team’s victory. That’s because the River’s Casino & Resort Schenectady is in prime position to launch in time for the upcoming 2019 NFL Season.
In a press release, casino officials shared their enthusiasm for the new addition to their list of amenities.
“We think sports fans and sports bettors throughout the Capital Region and beyond will be thrilled with the new sportsbook and are looking forward to welcoming them into the casino to place legal wagers for the first time,” said Justin Moore, Rivers Casino & Resort acting General Manager.
Construction for the newly renovated space was originally announced on May 14, 2019, and plenty of progress has been made since then.
One of the biggest hurdles to clear was waiting for the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) to approve official regulations for sportsbooks to follow. The NYSGC did just that on June 10, 2019.
Now, those regulations have to be published by the State Register which is expected to be completed sometime next week. After that occurs, Rivers Casino Schenectady will finally have the chance to obtain an official legal sports betting license and start taking in wagers.
“We anticipate opening the Rivers Sportsbook as soon as we receive approval from the NYSGC. Sports betting will be a tremendous complement to all that Rivers Casino has to offer,” said Moore.
Although, the Schenectady-based casino isn’t slowing down renovations while the regulations go through their governmental process. The casino has big aspirations for Rivers Sportsbook, and based on the current plans, gamblers and sports fan’s alike should have plenty to get excited for.
What Will The Rivers Sportsbook In Schenectady Look Like?
The Rivers Sportsbook gives a fresh and modern style to the New York sports betting experience in an easy to find and convenient space. The sports wagering lounge will be located adjacent to Van Slyck’s lounge which is directly off of the main gaming floor of the casino.
Before you even step in you’ll have the chance to use one of 16 self-service betting kiosks where you can place wagers on both professional and collegiate sports. If you need help placing a bet, you’ll be able to find six staffed betting windows where a sportsbook representative will be happy to assist you.
Once you’re officially inside the 5,000 square-foot space, you’ll be overtaken by a 53 foot long by 9-foot-high LED video wall showcasing all the latest sports matches. There will also be 22 additional TV monitors that measure 86 inches each.
For those that are looking to come with a group, there will be plenty of seating options. There are club chairs and table seating will fit about 80 guests at a time. There will also be five private booths with a dedicated TV monitor that will fit six guests each.
There will also be 18 individual VIP seats for those that want a more concentrated and comfortable betting experience.
A large running scoreboard will be hung outside of the sportsbook area for everyone on the gaming floor to see. However, once you’re inside the sports wagering lounge you will also be met with multiple continuously updated odds boards. This will be especially useful for patrons making live bets.
To get a visual representation of what’s to come, Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady has also released photo renderings of what the finished project should look like.
What Else Is There To Do At Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady
The Rivers Sportsbook itself is open to the public, which means you can make a day trip out of visiting Rivers Casino. However, once you arrive you might surely want to stay, given all the amenities the property offers.
For those that are still looking for some gambling activities in between or after sports matches, there are plenty of choices. The gaming floor itself encompasses 50,000 square-feet of space and holds 1,150 slot machines, 67 table games, 16 poker tables, and even offers off-track betting services.
There are also live entertainment events that occur inside the 10,000-square-foot Event Center which is large enough to hold 1,000 guests, five restaurants, and the 165-room Landing Hotel which offers stunning views of the Mohawk Harbor.
The Rivers Sportsbook only adds to an already fun and vibrant attraction for gamblers and entertainment seekers of all types. We’ll be on the lookout for any more updates to the impending launch of what should be one of the premier sports betting facilities in the state of NY.
