CHARLOTTE – Sam Darnold was recently acquired from the New York Jets by the Carolina Panthers and he is now set to be the starting quarterback for the Panthers. However, sportsbooks are not projecting the 23-year-old to have too hot of a season his first year out of the gate in Charlotte.

Darnold’s interception numbers have gone down each season he has been in the league, but he is still averaging over one interception per game across his 38 games played. Plus, being on a new team could prove to be a bit challenging for him. However, he will have one of the best check-down options in the NFL in Christian McCaffrey which could allow him to take fewer risks when feeling the pressure. Those betting on the NFL may want to look elsewhere for this futures spot even with the new playbook around Darnold.
