LOUISVILLE, Ky. – World No. 1 ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested and released from jail Friday morning after trying to get around a traffic stop outside of Valhalla Golf Club. Police and security had blocked the entrance after a man was killed by a shuttle bus at roughly 5 a.m. ET this morning.

Many were worried about the legal sports betting implications of Scheffler’s arrest, but he was released at 8:40 a.m. ET from the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and got to the golf course an hour before his 10:08 a.m. ET tee time.

Scheffler faces four charges, including three misdemeanors and one felony assault charge. He’s decided not to withdraw from the PGA Championship and will play the second round.
