POCONO, Pa. – Pennsylvania sports betting has made its way to the Poconos with the opening of a sportsbook at Mount Airy Casino Resort.
On Friday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place to signify the official opening of the sports betting addition to the casino. The facility has partnerships with both PokerStars and Fox Bet to offer its customers an online platform for wagers as well.
The state has been opening more locations as the sports betting market has expanded since it’s legalization in 2017. For the month of September alone, Pennsylvania sports wagering revenue was just shy of $15 million.
The lounge is a 3,800 square foot space located near the casino floor. It can hold up to 75 guests comfortably and is equipped with 40 televisions and eight self-service betting kiosks. While the sportsbook betting counter will have set hours, the betting kiosks will be open 24/7. The lounge will also offer patrons 12 poker tables to gamble while watching the games.
“We’re constantly investing in our player experience and are proud to offer our customers both a retail sportsbook and an online interactive gaming experience,” said Todd Greenberg, Mount Airy’s general manager. “Now, our guests can watch, bet, and play cards all in the same integrated location — and during sporting events’ infamously long commercials, they have the option of gaming from their phones at the world’s largest online poker site.”
Both Fox Bet and PokerStars apps are available for download by customers of Mount Airy. Not only will their online and mobile platforms allow for bettors to wager on legal sports betting at any time, the venue is open to patrons from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on the weekdays and also from 10 a.m. to midnight on the weekends.
