Summer Sports Cancellations May Affect Odds On Leagues Returning

• The odds are out for when the NHL, MLB, and NBA will be resuming their regular season games.
• Major sporting events and their new dates due to the Coronavirus will lead to plenty of betting options for sports bettors in the future with all of the competitions that will be happening at once.

MIAMI – Major summer sporting events such as the 2020 Summer Olympics have been postponed and moved to future dates which could lead to the changing of odds for professional leagues returning to their normal schedules.

The Olympics could be taking place in the Spring of 2021 and although that does nothing for making a difference for sports in 2020, it will clash with spring 2021 matchups.

Wimbledon will likely be postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but an official decision will come next week.

Even the fighting world is taking a hit. The third fight of what will now be a trilogy between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder has been rescheduled from a July date to October 3.

Wilder came up with a number of excuses as to why he lost to Fury during their last fight and requested a third. These two men may take a page from the Rocky series and continue to fight one another until their fans can predict the outcomes themselves.

All of these new dates for various sporting events as well as professional leagues starting up again will lead to crossover between competitions. This is not necessarily a bad thing for sports bettors as all of these events coinciding will lead to a tremendous influx in betting odds. After a prolonged sports betting hiatus, gamblers could see an avalanche of wagers to make.

The Indy 500 has been postponed until August, right before the start of the NFL season allowing numerous bets across the board for a wide variety of sports.

The silver lining to these major competitions being canceled is that professional leagues will be even more inclined to start playing their regularly scheduled games as soon as they are allowed to do so because they won’t be taking the spotlight from any big sports events.

Sports fans will be offered an endless buffet of bets and events to watch after fasting for months when the quarantine is finally over. But, that’s a big if and it will all depend on what happens with the virus in the coming months.
