TAMPA — This has been an NFL season like no other as the COVID-19 pandemic forced teams to be more flexible than ever. The matchup has been set for the biggest betting event of the year as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to be the first team to repeat as back-to-back Super Bowl champions since the New England Patriots did in 2003-2004. Tom Brady was the quarterback who led the Patriots to those back-to-back titles but he will be on the opposite side as the Buccaneers have found success in Brady’s first season.
The Bucs snapped a 13-year playoff drought en route to the Super Bowl.
These two teams met in Week 12 of the regular season as the Chiefs left Raymond James Stadium with a win over the Buccaneers 27-24. The Chiefs will look to have that same success as the Bucs will be the first franchise to make the Super Bowl in the same year the city is hosting it.
All eyes will be on the matchup of Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes and rightfully so as these are two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Super Bowl LV Betting Odds – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
- Spread: Chiefs (-3.5)
- Moneyline: Buccaneers (+145) vs. Chiefs (-165)
- O/U: 56.5
The Chiefs are narrowly favored to win back to back Super Bowls at legal sports betting sites as the early odds show they’re 3.5 point favorites.
The Spread For SB 55
The Kansas City Chiefs being favored in Super Bowl LV doesn’t give them a major advantage based on the history of the championship game. Although the favored team has won the last two Super Bowls, the overall record for favorites is 27-25-2.
The 3.5 point spread for this game isn’t likely to shift much as the Super Bowl approaches. In Week 12, the Chiefs were favored to beat the Buccaneers by 3.5 points and failed to cover the spread the Super Bowl could follow.
If betting ATS, taking Chiefs is risky as they’re 7-10-1 ATS this season while the Bucs are 11-8 ATS. Covering the spread as the favorite is hard but for those looking to bet SU the moneyline will likely make the decision easier.
Super Bowl LV Moneyline
The Chiefs are favored with -165 moneyline odds to win Super Bowl 55 while the Buccaneers have +145 odds. Unlike betting ATS, the favorite in the Super Bowl has generally been successful SU.
Favorites have a 35-19 record in the Super Bowl so if betting on a Chiefs win in Super Bowl LV, the moneyline is your best option. Betting on the Buccaneers on the spread gives bettors more wiggle room but the +145 SU odds are still a good value. Tom Brady has gone 6-9 in the Super Bowls he’s played so far so it’s hard to argue betting against Brady.
Super Bowl 55 O/U
Both the Buccaneers and Chiefs have high-powered offenses that can put points on the board. According to ESPN, if the total were to shift to 57 points, it would represent the second-highest points total in Super Bowl history.
The Over/Under in recent history has been a 50/50 flip as over the last 20 Super Bowls the Under has hit 10 times and the Over has hit 10 times. Furthermore, in Super Bowl history the points total record is 26-26-1. With Mahomes and Brady under center, this very well could be the highest-scoring Super Bowl in history so taking the Over could be a wise choice.
The kickoff for Super Bowl LV is scheduled for February 7, 6:40 p.m. EST and will be broadcasted by CBS.
