ORLANDO, Fla. — The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc on the sporting world including both to the National Basketball Association and to Major League Soccer.
The NBA was the first major sports league to go on hiatus back on March 11 when Utah Jazz Center, Rudy Gobert, tested positive for the coronavirus.
The MLS quickly followed in the NBA’s footsteps and suspended their season on March 12.
Major League Soccer in the United States is officially going to return as MLS league officials and MLS players have agreed on terms for their return plan.
The league is planning to host a summer tournament that will be held in Orlando.
The MLS return tournament is not official yet but it is expected to come very soon.
During this suspension, the league and its players were involved in intense negotiations over the changes to the Collective Bargaining Agreement and was close to a lockout.
Fortunately, there is no lockout for the time being as a deal was agreed upon until the 2025 season.

The league is planning on holding a 22-team tournament in Orlando as a part of their return plans. Before the tournament, however, there will be eight regular-season games held to in order to figure out seeding amongst the teams.
There will be a total of 13 Western Conference teams and nine Eastern Conference teams involved. Extra NBA teams to be in the playoffs will include those just outside of playoff seeding.
The league’s return is expected to begin on July 31 while the NBA will end in October.
