- BetMGM will offer the Nationals a mobile sports betting application as well as an open venue in Nationals Park to gamble during the games.
WASHINGTON – The Washington Nationals now have an official sports betting partner in BetMGM as the two have just sealed a multi-year agreement.
This partnership will see a BetMGM retail sportsbook venue open inside the stadium of Nationals Park for fans to place wagers on the game while being at the event itself. There will also be a mobile sports betting platform powered by BetMGM that can be accessed in the surrounding areas of the stadium.
It’s a law in the District that all mobile applications for sports wagering be available within a two-block radius of the actual retail location and nowhere else.
The only fully available sports betting application available throughout all of Washington, DC is GambetDC, an app run by the DC Lottery.
The Partnership Details
Having BetMGM as the official sportsbook for the Washington Nationals opens the door for a multitude of campaigns and promotions centered around the organization and its fans.
Plus, each side will be advertising for the other in a co-branding venture that’s been written within the contract of the deal which lends a hand to more publicity. This is expected to bring in added business and profits for the sportsbook and the baseball team because sports bettors will now become baseball fans and baseball fans will now become sports bettors.
The crossover will provide more engagement to each entity by the people and more chance for monetary gain as well.
“This new partnership with the Nationals is our most in-depth partnership with a team and showcases the multitude of ways we’re able to engage fans in and out of stadiums. We’re extremely excited to work together to create unique experiences for Nationals fans and the broader D.C. metro area during and after games,” said Matt Prevost, Chief Revenue Officer for BetMGM.
On the other end of it, the Washington Nationals are happy with their choice of sportsbook. BetMGM is newer to the scene but rose to be one of the top sports wagering platforms very quickly. This comes as no surprise seeing as one of their parent companies is MGM Resorts, a pillar in the gaming community.
“The Nationals are thrilled to expand our strong partnership with MGM Resorts into the sports betting realm,” said Alan Gottlieb, Chief Operating Officer of Lerner Sports Group. “As our Official Sports Betting Partner, BetMGM will further enhance the greatest in-venue fan experience in Washington, D.C. through its state-of-the-art entertainment products and services. The BetMGM mobile app will enable our fans to engage with the game in new and exciting ways, while the BetMGM Sportsbook connected to Nationals Park will provide Nationals fans and the D.C. community with a first-class gathering place to celebrate their passion for sports together.”
What’s Coming
Betting on the MLB just got a whole lot more fun for the people in Washington, DC with this latest pairing. When baseball season rolls around, fans of the Nationals will be able to wager using BetMGM either on-site or with the mobile application.
They’ll have a number of Nationals’ promotions and bets to take part in at the swipe of a few buttons as well.
“I can’t think of a better extension to MGM National Harbor’s long-standing partnership with the Washington Nationals. Fans will have the opportunity to experience America’s pastime in the most innovative and exciting way possible. We are thrilled to continue bringing world-class entertainment to the DMV,” said Jorge Perez, President & COO of MGM National Harbor.
