- The regulated sports betting industry of Illinois will be seeing theScore Bet sportsbook application by the end of the year.
- A deal with Caesars Entertainment is what’s making it possible for theScore to enter the Illinois market.
- A launch date for the platform is dependent upon how quickly the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) will be able to license the sportsbook for business in the state.
JOLIET, Ill. – Score Media and Gaming Inc has partnered with Caesars Entertainment Inc to be able to launch their sports betting platform, theScore Bet in Illinois.
The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) will first need to approve the sportsbook with the appropriate licenses to operate in the state before the application can make its official debut. This partnership deal will go through the Harrah’s Joliet Hotel & Casino which is one of Caesars properties in the U.S.
TheScore Partners With Caesars For Illinois Sports Betting
The companies expect theScore Bet to go live by the Summer or Winter of 2021, depending on how long it takes the IGB to license the company for business. While theScore gains entry into the Illinois sports betting market through this ten-year contract, Caesars will also see benefits from the pairing.
There are no disclosed numbers on how much Caesars will receive from theScore but they will get an annual revenue percentage from the mobile sportsbook, with a minimum profit in place to guarantee that Caesars entered a deal that was worth their while. The sportsbook company will also be responsible for paying Caesars back for all the initial startup costs that opening up shop in Illinois entails, including license and application costs.
At the end of the ten-year contract, it’s written within the documents that theScore Bet has the ability to extend for another ten years under the same terms of the agreement that presently stand.
“Gaining market access to Illinois is a significant development that will bring our award-winning mobile sportsbook to one of the most populous states,” said John Levy, Chairman and CEO, theScore. “Caesars is a giant in the casino-entertainment industry and we’re thrilled to have reached this agreement to extend theScore Bet’s footprint into another key new market.”
Illinois will mark the fifth state where theScore Bet will be available in a regulated sports betting industry nationwide. Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, and New Jersey sports bettors already have the application open at their fingertips for use. The draw with the platform itself for gamblers is that it offers plenty of variety for sporting events and wager types and also gives users the ability for cross-state access wherever the app is available because the company uses just one application for each industry they enter.
Illinois sports bettors should be seeing theScore Bet available for download by no later than the end of the year but more than likely by the start of the 2021 NFL’s first kickoff because that timeframe would be in the best interest of all parties involved, including the IGB who will be the ones to ultimately set a launch date for the platform.
