The NFL was forced to shut down the operations of both teams following the unfortunate positive test results.
“Both clubs are working closely with the NFL and the NFLPA, including our infectious disease experts, to evaluate close contacts, perform additional testing and monitor developments,” said the league and NFLPA in a joint statement. “All decisions will be made with health and safety as our primary consideration. We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.”
After being informed by the NFL of the positive test results, the Titans immediately shut down operations. The organization will continue to work remotely until the official word on the next steps is given.
“Out of the abundance of caution, the organization has decided to work remotely today as we follow NFL protocols related to the COVID-19 virus,” said the Titans in an official statement. “Several tests have come back positive and are working through the process of confirming them. We will have more information tomorrow.”
Following the positive tests from the Titans, the Vikings evacuated their facility. Tests are scheduled for all personnel and games are currently being put on hold by the NFL until things are situated.
“Today the NFL notified us that members of the Tennessee Titans organization have tested positive for COVID-19,” said the Vikings in a statement. “As of this morning, we have not received any positive results from Vikings testing following Sunday’s game. Per the NFL protocol, we will suspend in-person club activities and close TCO Performance Center immediately. We will work closely with the NFL and NFLPA to monitor the situation, perform additional testing and determine when the facility can reopen. We will provide further updates regarding this week’s football schedule when appropriate.”
This is the first incident of the season where things had to be shut down the NFL is running in a high-risk situation with the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting the country as a whole.
