- Tiz the Law, a favorite by sportsbooks for horse racing events will be bowing out of the Preakness Stakes this year.
- Authentic, the winner of the 2020 Kentucky Derby, is the favorite to win at Preakness with odds of (+125).
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tiz the Law will not be making an appearance at the 2020 Preakness Stakes this October as the horse’s owner Jack Knowlton is opting out of the event to focus on the Breeders’ Cup in November.
This new development will definitely have an effect on the odds for Preakness as Tiz has always been a frontrunner and a favorite for most events he’s in. In fact, the bay was slated to win the Kentucky Derby but came in second to Authentic in the end.
It was the first loss for Tiz in nine months which has led his team and Knowlton to re-evaluate the readiness of the horse to compete, believing that Preakness is too soon to race after coming off of a loss and there is not enough practice time to be ready for it.
Instead, they are looking toward the Breeders’ Cup as it allows for two months of training rather than just one.
Tiz the Law officially skipping #Preakness – Disappointing that Tiz will not be able to run in the Preakness, our primary interest is doing what’s right for the horse & in this case he's not ready. We look forward to training him up to the Breeders Cup Classic on 11/7. ~ Jack K. pic.twitter.com/vRn5tkrgzB
