WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night that he would tentatively be making a Game 5 appearance, and the 4-1 victory of the Washington Nationals in Game 3 made it official. Bookmakers have taken notice by offering props to celebrate the Nationals ushering in the first Washington team-hosted MLB championship since 1933, and their presidential guest.
Trump Will Not Throw First Pitch
As with nearly everything involving the President, his appearance comes with a hint of drama and a bit of controversy.
The plan is for Trump to make an appearance at the game sometime after the ceremonial pitch is thrown, and exit before the final out. The decision for Trump’s late arrival was agreed upon by the President and the MLB.
“His view was that in order to make the fan experience as positive as possible, he would arrive at Game 5 sometime after the game began, so that wouldn’t interfere with fans getting into the stadium. Quite frankly, we were very grateful for that,” said Rob Manfred, commissioner of the MLB.
By not being selected to throw the first pitch, Trump is ending a longstanding tradition amongst U.S. Presidents.

Coincidentally enough, the first pitch will be thrown by none other than chef, humanitarian, and vocal Trump critic José Andrés. The two were involved in a lawsuit previously, as the chef pulled his restaurant out of a Trump property after controversial remarks were made in regards to immigration.
Unfortunately, online bookmakers have not posted odds on the Trump and Andrés conflict – nor first pitch props at this time – but there are still a few options ahead of the game. Note that these Game 5 Trump props cannot be found at state-licensed legal sports betting sites, as political odds are off-limits.
Bet On The Nationals, Or Bet On… Trump?
Of course, betting on the Nationals (-115) to get their fourth win versus the Astros (+105) is an option, but bookmakers have something different in mind.
Both SportsBetting and BetOnline are offering Donald Trump World Series props, with two bets currently featured on their odds boards.
In true betting fashion, let’s take a look at some historical trends. ‘Will Donald Trump attend Game 5 with a family member?’ The pick here is yes, as Trump frequently travels with First Lady Melania Trump at a minimum, not to mention his son Barron could make an appearance as well.
‘Will Donald Trump wear a ballcap during Game 5?’ First and foremost, it’s a baseball game and a large majority of the fanbase will be wearing a hat. Trump also takes every opportunity to promote his own merchandise and makes millions for his campaign in the process. Be on the lookout for Trump to be wearing one of his USA 45 hats at some point during Game 5.
