INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts received devastating news last week that their recently acquired starting quarterback, Carson Wentz, will miss 5 to 12 weeks after suffering a foot injury that required surgery.

With Wentz now down for the count, legal online sportsbooks have odds on the Colts Week 1 starting quarterback against the Seattle Seahawks.

Jacob Eason Week 1 Odds

Jacob Eason’s NFL odds are undoubtedly the safest on the oddsboard. Eason was listed as the primary backup to Wentz going into training camp and Frank Reich did not waste any time in naming Eason the starter until proven otherwise.

If given the job, this would be Eason’s first career start in which he is no stranger to.

During his last season as a starter at Washington, Eason put up great numbers throwing for 3,132 yards and 23 touchdowns. That said, his odds could cash out with ease.

Nick Foles Week 1 Odds

Surprisingly, Nick Foles has such short odds to be the Week 1 starter. Foles is currently under contract with the Chicago Bears and would need to be traded to the Colts.

It just does not make sense for the Colts to trade away any pieces for a quarterback while they have Eason ready to go.

Despite the relationship that Frank Reich has with Foles, it seems that he is also sticking to what he has on his team.

“I love Nick Foles—I think he’s a great player. He’s proven that. He’s certainly a guy who fits our culture. But he plays for the Chicago Bears. We’re glad we have the guys we got,” said Reich.

Knowing this his odds can be avoided as more money can be made betting anywhere else.

Philip Rivers Week 1 Odds

This might seem like a bigger longshot than it actually is, but Philip Rivers has been rumored to make a comeback to the NFL after announcing his retirement at the end of last season.

“I’m just going to stay ready. I want to make sure I’m very clear: I’m not predicting I will play in December or January, for that matter. One, you’ve got to have somebody who wants you, and two, it’s got to be right—But I have not completely ruled that out,” said Rivers.

Being that Rivers spent his last season with the Colts and has already come out saying that he has not ruled out playing this season, his odds could be taken as a slight risk for a nice payout.
