- Aidan Hutchinson has -150 odds to be selected second overall.
- Travon Walker has +950 odds to be the second overall pick in the draft.
LAS VEGAS – The NFL Draft is here and there are still plenty of odds to get in on before the action begins. While many are focused on who will be selected first overall, odds on the second overall pick could offer even more value.
Online sportsbooks have been stuck between defensive ends Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker for who will be selected first overall. However, there is a strong belief that these two will be the first two players taken off the board.
Odds For Second Overall NFL Draft Pick
- Aidan Hutchinson -150
- Kayvon Thibodeaux +130
- Jermaine Johnson +750
- Travon Walker +950
- Ahmad Gardner +2800
- Derek Stingley +4000
Where Things Opened Up
At the time of opening, Hutchinson’s NFL odds opened up as the favorite to be selected with the first overall pick at +140 odds.
Walker did not come into the picture until later when his odds opened up at +2200 and quickly shifted down the shortest at -175 following the combine.
Walker clearly made a big enough impact at the combine after posting a 4.51 40-yard dash, a 35.5-inch vertical leap, and a 9.99/10 athletic score. However, Hutchinson proved to be the better overall player during their college careers with more than double the statistics that Walker posted.
Finding Value
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions, the top two picks, both clearly need help on the defensive line after each of them finished in the bottom-10 of the league in rushing yards allowed to opponents. Both have also expressed interest in adding one of the two defensive linemen.
With Hutchinson having clearly outperformed Walker last season and also the second in voting for the Heisman, his case for the top pick is strong. That said, Walker’s +950 odds are extremely valuable being that if he is not selected first, he is likely to go second.
When looking for the best odds though for Walker, Bovada is the sportsbook that have him listed at +950 while BetOnline has hit at +850. When betting in $100 units, Bovada offers $100 more in profit than BetOnline.
As for Hutchinson’s odds, Bovada also has the slight advantage where they are offering them at -150 for a $67 payout on a $100 bet. BetOnline has him at -175 for a $57 payout on that same $100. For those looking to get more towards their unit while betting on the second pick, Bovada is the way to go.
