- WynnBET will be just the sixth online sportsbook operating in Virginia thus far.
- Sports Betting was legalized back in April of 2020.
RICHMOND, Va.—Those that bet on sports in Virginia have a reason to get even happier than they already are as WynnBET will be entering the state as the sixth online sportsbook operator available to those located in the state.
Legal online sports betting was legalized in Virginia back in April of 2020 and launched in January just before Super Bowl LV. WynnBET will be joining other online sportsbook operators such as FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, BetRivers, and William Hill.
Looking at the bills that legalized sports betting in Virginia, HB 4, SB 384, and HB 896, all came together to put the rules and regulations together for sports betting in the state.
One thing that WynnBet and the other online sportsbook operators are dealing with right now is that they are not allowed to offer odds on any college sports. With there being a ban on betting in the state, Virginia residence will miss the opportunity to bet on either the Virginia Cavaliers or Virginia Tech Hokies in the March Madness Tournament this year.
Looking at how WynnBet was able to get approved for a sports betting license, they have already built a partnership with NASCAR and the Martinsville Speedway along with the Richmond Raceway to become their official sports betting partner.
“We appreciate the confidence the Virginia Lottery has in our ability to deliver a world-class, online betting experience for the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia— We value our close relationship with NASCAR and look forward to creating a new and exciting online betting offering for NASCAR fans,” said Craig Billings, President of Wynn Resorts.
With that said, there has been no official word on when WynnBet will officially launch in Virginia. But for previous online sportsbook operators, it has usually taken less than one week.
