- The Roughnecks and D.C. Defenders are 3-0 heading into this week, giving them the most favorited odds and the biggest spreads over their 0-3 opponents.
ORLANDO, Fla. – The XFL season continues with week four following an eventful slate of games this past week where every team won by just one possession. The Houston Roughnecks and D.C. Defenders have established themselves as the top dogs in the league so far while the Orlando Guardians and Vegas Vipers will look for their first wins of the season.
Unfortunately for the Guardians and Vipers, they are matched up against the Roughnecks and Defenders, respectively. Legal betting sites have posted money line, spread, and total odds for each game this week, giving plenty of wager options for fans.
XFL Week 4 Odds
Matchup: | Money line: | Spread: | Total: |
---|---|---|---|
Houston Roughnecks @ Orlando Guardians | HOU (-380) vs ORL (+290) | HOU -9.0 | 38.0 |
San Antonio Brahmas @ Seattle Sea Dragons | SA (+170) vs SEA (-200) | SEA -4.5 | 40.5 |
Arlington Renegades @ St. Louis BattleHawks | ARL (+155) vs STL (-180) | STL -4.0 | 36.5 |
Vegas Vipers @ D.C. Defenders | VEG (+200) vs DC (-240) | DC -6.0 | 42.0 |
Houston Roughnecks @ Orlando Guardians
The first game of the XFL’s week four is also a rematch of week one, where the Roughnecks demolished the Guardians 33-12. Since then, the Roughnecks have gone on to win every game while the Guardians did just the opposite.
The spread of -9.0 while huge, does have credence as the Roughnecks not only steamrolled the Guardians in week one, but have also won their other two games by nine exactly.
Because the money line has massive -380 odds for the Roughnecks, there is not much value to be had in betting on the outright winner. Similarly, while the Roughnecks did go slightly under the 38.0 total in weeks two and three, the prospect of them blowing out the Guardians once again can make this a worrisome bet.
Thus, after establishing themselves as the top scoring offense along with a daunted pass rush, the Roughnecks should position themselves to handily beat the lowly Guardians.
- Top pick for this game: HOU -9.0 (-110)
San Antonio Brahmas @ Seattle Sea Dragons
The Brahmas and Sea Dragons are among two of the most evenly matched teams this week. The Sea Dragons are led by their dynamic duo of Ben DiNucci and Josh Gordon, which is leading the best passing attack in the league.
The Brahmas on the other hand are a classic ground and pound team headlined by Kalen Ballage and a solid defense that has only allowed over 20 points once all season. Though, they did show some passing game weakness last week with Roughnecks QB Brandon Silvers tossing 378 yards and three TDs.
Notably, the Sea Dragons have hit the over on the total every week this year, and that should continue with their high-powered passing offense forcing the Brahmas to pass themselves in order to keep up.
- Top pick for this game: Over 40.5 (-110)
Arlington Renegades @ St. Louis BattleHawks
The Renegades and BattleHawks enter this week as the most evenly matched team by odds. So far on the season, the Renegades are the lowest scoring team by a good margin, with only three total touchdowns this year.
On the other hand, the BattleHawks have rallied behind QB A.J. McCarron, who is tied for the league lead in passing touchdowns at seven. However, they are among the worst teams in terms of pass rush at just four sacks on the year.
Despite the poor pass rush for St. Louis, the combination of the Renegades’ inept offense that can not put up many points along with the BattleHawks narrowly losing to the top-ranked Defenders last week should put St. Louis in prime position to control the game.
- Top pick for this game: STL -4.0 (-110)
Vegas Vipers @ D.C. Defenders
This is the other game that is a rematch, this time from week two where the Defenders handily beat the Vipers 18-6.
The Defenders have exactly embodied their name, being one of the most daunted defenses in the XFL that is second in sacks and interceptions. Last week, they showcased their offensive potential by scoring 34 points, the most by any team this season.
The Vipers also come off an impressive week where they put up 26 points but came up short against the Sea Dragons. Brett Hundley proved to be one of the biggest bright spots by combining for three total touchdowns and no turnovers.
Overall, the Defenders are by far a more capable defense than the Sea Dragons and seemed to have a very good understanding of how to stop the Vipers last time around. The Vipers themselves are no slouches on defense either though despite their poor performance against DiNucci and co. last week.
With a seemingly inflated total on legal sportsbooks due to these two teams’ impressive week three performance, there is certainly value in taking the under with the hopes of a week two repeat where the Defenders ride their stout defense and strong run game to a clock-killing victory.
- Top pick for this game: Under 42.0 (-110)
