Oaks Race & Sportsbook Review
Located just a few miles northwest of Philadelphia and directly north of Valley Forge National Historic Park, the Oaks Race & Sportsbook was open for business. After changing its name from the Valley Forge Turf Club to the Oaks Race & Sportsbook, bettors were granted another sports betting location in Pennsylvania to participate in the hobby. In this review of Oaks Race & Sportsbook, expect to learn about the launch date, location, hours, and general information about the racino and sportsbook.
Sportsbook Permanently Closed
The Oaks Race & Sportsbook has closed permanently. The casino originally closed in mid-march along with all other Pennsylvania casinos. On July 6, after all other brick-and-mortar casinos were welcoming guests back, the sportsbook was still closed. The Sportsbook had a sign saying if you have tickets you want to cash, you can visit Parx Casino or South Philly Race and Sportsbook at this time. This review is based on how the sportsbook was operating before the closure.
When Did Oaks Race & Sportsbook Launch?
This establishment began back in September of 1996, when Greenwood Racing opened its only Turf Club that was designed and built specifically as an off-track betting facility. They wanted to create a true place to make wagers in the suburbs of Philadelphia. When building the Turf Club, they gave it a true old style “hunt club” brick and mortar sportsbook through its architecture and décor, reflecting its proximity to Philadelphia’s “Main Line” of horse racing history.
After undergoing a $1 million renovation in March of 2019, the Valley Forge Turf Club was rebranded as the Oaks Race & Sportsbook. The facility launched their new sportsbook on March 14, 2019. By doing so, Oaks Race & Sportsbook became the eighth legal sportsbook in Pennsylvania and the sixth in the greater Philadelphia area. Despite opening up shop across the way from Valley Forge Casino Resort’s sportsbook, there is plenty of betting action to go around.
Where Is Oaks Race & Sportsbook Located?
As far as getting to the physical off-track parlor, the venue can be found located off of Pottstown Expressway, near I-76. It is technically located in Oaks, which is an unincorporated community in Upper Providence Township and Montgomery County. Getting here from Philadelphia is made easy through the use of public transit (Norristown Line and the 99 bus) or by driving the 20 miles northwest from downtown. Inside the venue, you can not miss the legal sportsbook, as signs clearly indicate its location the second you walk in the front door. The hours of operation are as follows:
How Old Do I Need To Be To Bet Oaks Race & Sportsbook?
In order to bet on sports at the Oaks Race & Sportsbook, you must abide by the minimum age to bet on sports, which is 21 years old. This is Pennsylvania law and is strictly enforced by the bookmaker. You can, however, wager on horses if you are at least 18 years old. For sports betting, you must be able to provide legal documentation proving you are at least the required betting age of Pennsylvania. There are no exceptions to this rule as the Oaks Race & Sportsbook could lose its betting license if they are allowing an underage patron to partake in sports betting.
Does Oaks Race & Sportsbook Offer Full-Service Sports Betting?
Yes, the Oaks Race & Sportsbook is a full-service sportsbook. Aside from the straight bets (spreads, totals, moneyline), you also have the ability to bet parlays, teasers, futures, props, and many other betting styles. You can also find betting odds on the NFL and other popular sports like the NBA and MLB. Lesser-watched sports such as golf, tennis, and even MMA are there too.
Mobile Wagering At Oaks Race & Sportsbook
Anyone attempting to use the mobile sports betting app must be physically located within Pennsylvania to place a wager. Oaks Race & Sportsbook will geolocate your phone’s position to ensure they are not breaking the law. If outside the state, you will still be able to access your account, review betting lines, and even make deposits; however, submitting action will not be possible.
Live Betting At Oaks Race & Sportsbook
One of the best ways to stay involved in your favorite games (especially when they are blowouts) is live betting. Also known as in-play betting, the Oaks Race & Sportsbook has live odds constantly displayed on their various betting board monitors. While some bets are only to be placed at stoppage points (timeouts, end of periods, injuries), other bets can be placed as the action is unfolding. As long as you are quick to the punch before the odds change, you are able to place a bet at Oaks Race & Sportsbook on any live action.
What Promotions Are Offered At Oaks Race & Sportsbook?
Oaks Race always usually had sports betting promotions going on and most of the time players love to go to the Oaks for this reason. Even with it being very packed on a usual, players will find other ways to bet.
What Benefits Do I Receive With a Parx Casino Xclub Card?
While the Parx Casino Xclub Card doesn’t involve sports betting, you can use this player reward system to earn points on every dollar wagered on the horses. Every dollar equates to a quarter of a point and you can move your status from Bronze or Silver into the VIP categories of Gold, Platinum, and all the way up to Diamond. The higher the level you achieve, the more points per dollar wagered you acquire. Rewards for the Xclub card include racing forms, food/drink vouchers, and even wagering vouchers.
How Do Parlays Work At Oaks Race & Sportsbook?
You can put up to 12 legs on to your regular or in-game parlay. The book has the ability to further limit the total number of legs; however, it is very rare this happens. Getting a parlay correct requires every leg of the wager to hit, so be sure not to overdo it and risk losing because the total payout was an incredible number. Parlay betting at Oaks Race & Sportsbook also includes teasers, round robins, and more.
